The soul and gospel icon leased the single-story home on Clinton Place from 2011-2015, according to sources familiar with the transaction. The property was not made publicly available prior to being signed, sealed and delivered this week in an off-market deal. Patrick Fogarty of Hilton & Hyland, a founding member of Forbes Global Properties, handled the sale.

Set high up in the Trousdale neighborhood, the Hollywood Regency-style house has four bedrooms, eight bathrooms and more than 6,200 square feet of living space. Expanses of windows along the back of the house frame views extending towards Century City and, on a clear day, the ocean.

The gated half-acre of grounds include ample patio space and a swimming pool. A four-car garage is underground and accessed through the front entry.

The sale is the latest in a string of high-profile deals closing in the Trousdale neighborhood, an area long favored by Hollywood types and titans of industry.
