Hilton & Hyland’s Heather Boyd is as comfortable selling luxury Los Angeles real estate as she is acting on the Broadway stage or a Burbank television set. Boyd has two different yet successful careers on her resume.

With seven years at Hilton & Hyland, Boyd excels at finding her clients the right property even in this challenging and beyond the competitive market. “I’ve had my license for 15 years and originally was on the commercial side as something I did between acting gigs,” said Boyd (formerly Heather Lindell). “After a stint on Broadway in La Cage aux Folles in 2010 to 2011, I decided residential sales was a better fit for me. Specifically working with young families,” the mother of two young boys said. Looking back, that was the right decision for Boyd, who says her business has grown organically through client referrals.

Heather Boyd of Beverly Hills-based brokerage Hilton & Hyland has made her mark in both real estate … [+] and the television screen.

Heather Boyd

Boyd is well skilled for today’s challenging and competitive seller’s market. She recently located a prime 1930’s Spanish-style Glendale Hills home for a long-time client. Bidding was heated with 82 offers. Boyd structured her offer to stand out and communicated clearly with the listing broker. The result: Boyd’s client’s offer was the winning bid. “My client is beyond happy, which of course makes me happy,” Boyd said. Exploring different areas of Los Angeles and its architecture has long been a passion for Boyd. One day she’s at the beach, the following driving around the Eastside of Los Angeles.

The best part of working in residential real estate for Boyd “is that human connection and how you positively affect lives.” Her most memorable sale was not a seven-figure Beverly Hills home. It was helping an older woman in the San Fernando Valley sell and move out of the house she lived in for decades. “I made the smallest commission on that sale, yet I felt the best about it. I knew I really helped her with an important and difficult life transition. It truly was the highlight of my year,” Boyd recalls. Today Boyd works with buyers and sellers from Bel-Air, Beverly Hills, the Hollywood Hills, Studio City, Sherman Oaks and around Los Angeles.

Broadway came calling when Boyd was a junior at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television “I loved musical theatre. I went to New York for a role in Hairspray during summer vacation, and it was an incredible experience. I came back for my senior year,” she said, confiding that her parents insisted that she graduate from UCLA.

Boyd often jokes about her long-running reoccurring character Jan Spears on Days of Our Lives, one of television’s most enduring soap operas. The actress, who has appeared Days since 2004, jokingly says her character “has been in out of a coma over the years I think at least three times.”

As soap fans know characters often disappear for years then are suddenly reborn. “Acting is not a stable career. That is one of the reasons I went into real estate,” Boyd said with a laugh. She likens her character on Days as “a deranged lunatic like Kathy Bates in Misery.”

Real estate was always a force in Boyd’s life. Her father was a multi-family investor in Los Angeles, and she became interested in the industry watching her father run his business. Boyd’s husband in hospitality also deals with real estate on leases and locations for his business.

Hilton & Hyland

When asked how her acting skills transfer to her real estate career, Boyd shared this: “My favorite acting professors at UCLA taught us that to be a great actor, you need to be able to listen to your scene partner. A majority of my success as a Realtor I attribute to listening to my clients, really listening to what they want and working hard to get them exactly that.”

Working in residential real estate in Los Angeles is truly a starring role for Boyd.
